Analysis of Two Existing College Magazines

In this post I will be analysing two existing college magazines using LIIAR. I can see what their good and bad points are and it will help me make my magazine better than the examples; as I can use any good points and improve any bad points.

Magazine Example One:
This magazine cover is for East Riding College and is called 'Student Life'. It has many of the conventions a college magazine should have. For example, within the layout there is a mast head, image, logo and smaller headlines of what’s in the magazine. This college magazine looks like it'd be aimed at older more academic students, it would fit better for a university than a college in my opinion. For my magazine I am going to try to make it appeal to a more young/edgey audience of students aged 16-19.

Magazine Example Two:
This magazine cover is more 'up to date' and modern than the previous example so I hope to base my magazine more to the 'youngness' of this one. The main image on this however is more of a 'graphicsy' sort of picture rather than a photo. Whereas in mine I shall be using a photo, but I could use the more technical edited sort of look of this and try to make mine a bit more edgy with some editing on photoshop.
